Claims Services Overview
Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WCIA) claims staff is experienced in handling liability exposures unique to the municipal market. We handle over 1,500 liability and property claims for the membership every year. WCIA also retains outside Adjusters who are available to respond to after-hours claim emergencies, like a weekend sewer back up claim.
Special Claim Services
In addition to traditional claim service functions, WCIA offers:
- Active Education Outreach: instructing member departments on claim and incident responses, how to document and what to expect during the process
- Comprehensive Claims Reports: issued to members on schedules they request

After Hours Emergency Claims Service
For after hours or on the weekend emergency claim service, call 800-235-8784.
When talking with Sedgwick’s Call Center, please use Washington Cities Insurance Authority
instead of the acronym WCIA. If necessary, reference Sedgwick’s internal account number associated with Washington Cities Insurance Authority, which is account number 2501.
